ministerial breakfast

Taylor School District’s Family Resource Center held its inaugural ministerial breakfast at the Taylor Career and Technical Center’s CB Café last week. Eighteen churches joined our administration team to learn about our resource center and how they can partner with our schools to help support our families in need.

“Partnerships with faith-based organizations are important,” says Bridget Jarvis, parent and community liaison at Taylor School District and Family Resource Center administrator. “They are such a big part of our community and have resources that will benefit our students and families.”

At the breakfast, attendees enjoyed a meal prepared by our career and technical center’s Culinary program and heard a presentation from Bridget about the Family Resource Center, which is set to open soon.

“We’re very excited about our Family Resource Center,” she says. “Making sure every family has the things they need live a comfortable life is something that’s extremely important to our district, and having this center will make sure we are there for our families and students when they need us.”

John Reilly, senior pastor at Beacon Baptist Church, understands the value of partnerships between local churches and schools. He says churches have valuable resources that can help our staff and students in need.

“I think it’s important to help with what is needed and not necessarily what we feel is important,” he says. “By partnering with schools, we can learn what it is that our community needs and that will allow us to support those areas. We want to help because God has blessed us, and because of his blessings we want to be a blessing to others.”

The Family Resource Center will open later this year. When it does, families will be able to arrive to the Board Annex on Pine off of Northline to pick up a number of essential items free of charge. Our district will communicate with families who are interested in taking advantage of its services as it gets closer to opening.
